Summer Camp

MAGIC CARPET RIDE - SUMMER 2009

All Sessions will be held Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8AM-3PM (with field trips) and Thursdays 8AM-Noon (crafts, dancing, cooking and feasting related to each country).

CHINA  June 30-July 2
Potential field trips include a guided tour of the Chinatown section of Boston including markets, shops, visits to historic sites with a professional tour guide, lunch in Chinatown, and a visit to an authentic Chinese house brought from China and reconstructed at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem.

ENGLAND  July 7-9
Field trips include High Tea, a visit to the Mapparium at the Mary Baker Eddy Library in Boston and to historic sites exploring our country’s early ties to Britain.

ITALY  July 21-23
Possible field trips include a guided tour of the markets and shops in the North End neighborhood of  Boston, a guided tour of historic sites with a knowledgeable tour guide, lunch in an Italian Ristorante in the North End and, of course, gelato for dessert.

BRAZIL   July 28-30
Plans include attending a class in Brazilian samba dancing, martial arts, sampling Brazilian Barbecue.

BOSTON   August 4-6
Our possible itinerary this week includes a ride on the Swan Boats in the Public Garden, a guided tour of Fenway Park, a walk along the Freedom Trail, and a ride on the duck tours.

The cost for this program remains the same ( $120. per week, per child and $100. for each additional child in a family).  The only additional charge will be the cost of admission, transportation and meals for the trips. We will make every effort to keep costs to a minimum. Many museums are free for children and we will negotiate group rates wherever possible. Depending on the number of children participating, we may use public transportation and/or commuter boat with appropriate supervision.

REGISTRATION – Please include your check for $50 per child non-refundable deposit with this form.  Return it to school with your child or mail to Joan Cahalane at Holy Family School, 6 Del Prete Avenue, Rockland, MA 02370.  We would like to have our numbers complete by May 1 so that we may finalize plans for the field trips.

Tutoring  2009

 

 

Dear Parent,

              In response to the requests of many parents, I am very pleased to announce that we will be offering summer tutoring here at Holy Family School. The program will be conducted from Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, August 6th.  (There will be no instruction during the week of July 4th).

             We are offering this program as an alternative to private tutoring or summer school programs offered by area public schools.  Students who are required to attend summer school may fulfill the requirement here at Holy Family.  All students who are required to attend summer school will be tested at the end of the program to determine proficiency.  Students who are requested to receive tutoring, as well as those who have been recommended for tutoring, may fulfill the required here as well.

             Instruction will run for one-hour sessions between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. (Tuesday – Thursday)  Private tutoring and small group instruction will be offered in most subjects.  The fee of  $60.00 per private session per hour and $25.00 per small group session per hour is to be made by check payable to Holy Family School.

              Indicate below your interest in attending the summer tutoring/school program.  Once we have received your response, the teacher who will be responsible for your child’s instruction will notify you.  Please note that if your child is required to attend summer school/receive tutoring, verification of attendance must be sent to HFS by the 14th of August.
